6. CUSTOMISED ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING MATERIAL– PRODUCED BY THE DEPARTMENT
7. ELTTC
The English Language Teaching Training Centre was the dream of faculty members of the Research Centre of English. The ELTTC was inaugurated on November 30, 2011. ThethenChief Educational Officer of Madurai, Mrs. K.Sridevi inaugurated the Centre and appreciated theendeavours of the Department to explore new avenues in order to augment the English Languageteaching skills of the school teachers. So far, training programs and workshops have beenconducted for school teachers, college teachers and non Teaching staff.
The objective of the ELTTC is to equip English teachers with special pedagogical skills necessary to train the avid learners of the current competitive world. The Centre also attempts toreach out and extend its services to the teachers of Matriculation schools. With the sole aim ofrendering dedicated assistance to the teaching fraternity and to the student community at large,the ELTTC aspires to offer ICT-based modules making the process of language learning bothenjoyable and goal-oriented.
Besides working to train the teaching community, the Centre also proposes to help theworkers and staff employed in the corporate and service sectors with learning modules onEnglish for Everyday life, English for Specific Purposes and Conversational skills and soft skills
