VISION

To spread awareness on consumer rights amongst all consumersegments especially among college students. To reach the unreached by impartingknowledge and training on consumer awareness to our students and enable them to teach the village personnel.

MISSION

To enable students to understand fundamental rights of a citizen and make them realize and learn the fundamental duties of a good citizen.

To inject knowledgeand skills relatingto consumer rights among our college students and to impart knowledge on product standards, product quality and about markets.

To make them aware of laws enacted for protection / welfare of consumers and enforcement authorities concerned.

To build a base of enlightened citizen customers as the foundation of future India and skills relating to consumer rights among our college students and to impart knowledge on product standards, product quality and about markets.

 

The Consumer club of Fatima College is an initiative taken to enhance awareness amongst the student community about the rights and responsibilities of a consumer. It was inaugurated on Jun. 17, 2007, and it gained momentum in the year 2009.  Right from its inception the club has conducted several outreach programmes, consumer awareness demonstrations, guest lectures, training of trainers and competitions etc., Our consumer club had also won the “Best Club” award in district level from the District Collector, consumer department Madurai District. During the academic year 2009 – 2010. Students from Commerce and Economics department are the members of the club.  To highlight the importance of consumer rights, National consumer day is celebrated on December 24th every year across India, and world consumer day is celebrated on March 15th across the world Field visits to villages, consumer courts and door to door campaign in the local community etc, would be organised in our consumer club activity. Minutes of all activities would be recorded by the student and teacher coordinator jointly to document.

Spread awareness among rural consumers with special attention to women folk in Podhumbu, Kovilpappakudi, Athalai, Milagarani and Manianji.
