1. MISSION

To develop statistical and probabilistic theories and techniques and to propagate statistical knowledge through teaching and outreach programs, in order to serve the needs of the society.

 

2. OBJECTIVES

 

To equip the students on the art of probabilistic reasoning, that is, the logic and principles that should guide rational decision making under conditions of limited information and uncertainty.

To provide students with an understanding of Statistical thought and knowledge.

The ability to use this understanding to produce and communicate Statistics.

To prepare them to apply these skills in advanced degree programmes and/or careers requiring expertise in Statistics.
