7. ELTTC

The English Language Teaching Training Centre was the dream of faculty members of the Research Centre of English. The ELTTC was inaugurated on November 30, 2011. The then Chief Educational Officer of Madurai, Mrs. K.Sridevi inaugurated the Centre and appreciated the endeavours of the Department to explore new avenues in order to augment the English Language teaching skills of the school teachers. So far, training programs and workshops have been conducted for school teachers, college teachers and non Teaching staff.

The objective of the ELTTC is to equip English teachers with special pedagogical skills necessary to train the avid learners of the current competitive world. The Centre also attempts toreach out and extend its services to the teachers of Matriculation schools. With the sole aim of rendering dedicated assistance to the teaching fraternity and to the student community at large,the ELTTC aspires to offer ICT-based modules making the process of language learning both enjoyable and goal-oriented.

Besides working to train the teaching community, the Centre also proposes to help the workers and staff employed in the corporate and service sectors with learning modules on English for Everyday life, English for Specific Purposes and Conversational skills and soft skills

8. MOU/LOI

MoU : DHAN Foundation to produce Documentaries.

      • Produced 8 Documentaries of which one on “Mayandi Bharati” won a National Award.
      • Uniqueness – Documentaries produced in the absence of a Digital lab.

LoI : A letter of Intent was signed with St.Joseph School for the Blind, Paravai with the following objectives:

      • To instill a sense of community service among of the students of the department.
      • To improve the communication and soft skills of the students of the school.
  • Planning to apply for Major/Minor Research Projects and to guide Ph.D. candidates.
  • To upgrade as a Research Department.
  • To pursue micro level research in collaboration with various organizations.
  • To publish a book on “Women Studies”.
  • To conduct sponsored National and International Seminars/Workshops.
  • To Start an Annual Journal “ISTORIA”.
  • To Inaugurate a Museum.
