Services to the Society

AICUF IN FATIMA COLLEGE

The All India Catholic University Federation unit of Fatima College is comprising of First and Second year Undergraduates. Membership is open to students of all religions. Four Staff (Shift – I) and Two Staff (Shift – II) guide the AICUFers in taking up multifarious activities both within the campus and outside.

AICUFers attend seminars and workshops and share their views about the social problems will help them in public speaking and street theater.

AICUF serves as a platform to our students to develop an awareness and critical analysis of our social needs. This will also cultivate a deep and genuine concern for the apprised and marginalized and to commit them to the task of building a humanized society, as enlightened women.

HISTORY OF AICUF

The All India Catholic University Federation is a movement of university students with a vision for a new and just society.

It is indicated by the abbreviation AICUF. The movement was started in 1924, at St.Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli by Fr. Carty, SJ. Currently it operates in 14 states of India.

The organization is affiliated to Pax-Romana, an international association of catholic professionals (IMCS).

To empower students evolve a Spirituality that has humanization as its core, through involvement and reflection

MISSION

         

To motivate students to become involved in studies, research and activities linked to broader social issues and struggles with a view to becoming a creative and critical force within the university.

         

To sensitize students towards those at the margins and involve ourselves in the struggle for their basic rights by equipping ourselves physically, intellectually and spiritually.

OBJECTIVES

         

To play a vital role in community through participation in various community activities.

To develop personality, Social responsibility and to promote spiritual growth.

MEMBERS

The membership of AICUF is open to university students who share the ideals of the movement as enshrined in its constitution. However, every member state has the autonomy to decide on its own policy regarding membership.

Every member is entitled to participate in all the decision – making activities of the unit. However, a member can be selected as an office-bearer only on completion of one year in the AICUF, except in the case of newly formed units.

STRUCTURE

AICUF’s structure is geared to ensure its mass students movement character. The AICUF functions at the national, state, regional and unit levels. The state is the primary decision-making body in AICUF. The various states are linked at the national level as members of a federation.

SIGNIFICANT SERVICE

AICUF of Fatima College provides Music Therapy for cancer patients at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai through The Ashwin Maharaj Foundation every months. This music therapy is a part of a complementary medicine program in supportive cancer care which accompanies medical treatment. This therapy is an effective form of supporting cancer care for patients during the treatment process which also basic for planning effective programs of rehabilitation to promote wellness, improve physical and emotional well-being and the quality of life.
